Frequently Asked Questions
What is a bidet?
A bidet is a toilet fixture designed primarily for washing the private and posterior parts. It can come in the form of a standalone unit in the bathroom, or as a component to be fixed on the toilet.
What are the different types of American Standard bidets available in Australia?
American Standard offers the following types of bidet toilet seats to cater to our customers’ needs:

Electronic
An electronic bidet – also known as an E-Bidet – is a bidet equipped with electrically-powered controls to operate the various functions, including warm water sprays from the nozzles integrated into the seat. It usually has more functions and technologies than a manual bidet.
How do I know which American Standard bidet will fit my toilet?
All our American Standard bidet models can be found here
This list includes pre-selected American Standard toilets that are compatible with our E-Bidet.
How does a bidet enhance the cleaning experience compared to a trigger spray?
A trigger spray does not offer much control and creates a wet mess both on the toilet seat and the floor. Wet and slippery floors may pose slipping dangers, especially with young children, pregnant mothers or the elderly in the house. With the bidet, your toilet seat and floor (and your hands!) remain dry, giving you additional peace of mind.
Besides, trigger sprays are usually positioned right beside the toilet. This means that a user will need to twist his body around to reach out for the trigger spray prior and after use. With our American Standard bidets, such inconveniences are eliminated. Manual levers (for manual bidets) and remote controls (for electronic bidets) are located on the side of the toilet seat, where the user can easily reach for and even adjust spray strength intensity, water and seat temperature etc.
Where can I find the model number of my American Standard bidet?
Please check the product’s box, installation instructions or receipt from the place of purchase for the model number.
Why are dual nozzles better than a single nozzle?
Dual nozzles offer a superior hygiene experience compared to a single nozzle. The separate nozzles provide dedicated front and rear cleansing for a more thorough posterior and feminine wash minimizing any risk of cross contamination. Additionally, the nozzles include self-cleaning features and are made with antimicrobial materials to ensure optimal cleanliness.
What is the purpose of detachable nozzles?
The detachable nozzles make cleaning easier and they can also be easily replaced.
Why the need for a nozzle shutter?
The nozzle shutter enhances hygiene standards by providing a cover over the nozzles, preventing waste products (if any) from coming in contact with the nozzle tips. It provides an additional level of hygiene assurance for users.
What is the perfect cleansing angle?
A larger washing angle of more than 70 degrees has been proven to remove dirt more effectively. At this optimal angle, it also prevents dirty water from splattering back over the nozzles or around the bowl.
Can we adjust the water spray and nozzle position of the bidet?
Yes, our range of products have between 3-5 levels of water pressure adjustments and 5 levels of nozzle position adjustment. These are easily controlled by a user-friendly control.
What is posterior cleansing?
Posterior cleansing offers a strong, direct spray for thorough cleansing for the rear.
Do I need to manually turn on the deodorizer before I use the toilet?
Depending on the type of bidet products, some of our models come with auto deodorizer, which is activated once the user is seated.
Is there a power saving feature on the E-bidet or shower toilet?
The power saving mode can be found on the control panel, which stops water and seat heating functions to conserve electricity. Cleansing and flushing will still operate. Original settings will resume after 8 hours.
Are electric-powered bidets such as E-bidets and shower toilets safe to use in bathrooms?
Our customers’ safety forms the backbone of our design processes, and rigorous testing and extensive quality checks are performed for each of our products. The three pillars of safety standards –thermal, electrical and fire—are put in place via the use of flame retardant materials and built-in safety systems.
All our American Standard bidet products undergo rigorous quality assurance, including 30 safety assurance tests and 80 long-life durability tests before they are verified as quality assured.
How do your bidets address electrical safety concerns if there is a current overload, short circuit or device failure?
The main power and electrical components, such as the seat heater, have built-in safety systems that completely cut off electricity in the event of a current overload, short circuit or device failure.
How does the dryer prevent overheating?
The dryer is built with flame-retardant materials, and uses a thermal controller to keep air at a precise temperature. In the event of overheating, the dryer’s thermal fuse cuts off the heater’s electricity, making sure the operating temperature does not exceed the heat resistance of the case.
Are your bidets designed with fire safety features?
The heated seat, case, and circuit board elements are all made of flame-retardant and self- extinguishing materials. They are certified to meet the UL 94 safety standard in tests for flammability of plastic materials, for parts in devices and appliances.
Do I need to clean the nozzles of my American Standard bidet after every use?
All our bidet toilet seats come with self-cleaning nozzles that are rinsed with water before and after every use, so additional cleaning is not necessary. However, you should clean other parts of the bidet regularly, especially the hard-to-reach areas as dust and dirt may accumulate over time.
